fun shot

I took this picture pre-Creative Circus. It sits on my desk at work and has a sticker attached that says "smile". Long story short, when I took the shot, I thought the Beluga whale was smiling, but one of my coworkers explained to me that Beluga whales are very territorial...and hate outsiders swimming in their tank. So, my smiling whale image is really a picture of a creature who's pretty upset. It's still funny to me, now that I know "Natasha" really wants to bite the diver.

Effects Of Light Passing Through Rain

So now that I know that it rains a lot here in Atlanta I can expect to see this more often. I was randomly driving around to different stores, in the rain of course. I saw this cool effect the rain made inside the car. I would love to see if i could recreate this in a studio.

More White Reflections

So again i found this cool small reflection on this pot hanging from my mirror. I was waiting for my friend so we could go eat and i was parked next to a white SUV. Like the leaf it left cool white reflections.

Reflection

I was going to a friends house and it was cloudy and raining just a little. I saw this awesome leaf with really cool white reflections on it. I like how the water on the leaf acts like a reflector and also makes it shine.

On my way from work to class yesterday evening, I passed by this tree with wonderful light in the leaves. The sun was setting behind the tree...and I paused for a moment to look and record what I saw.

More Reflection

I'm kinda fascinated with the reflections on buildings right now...never shot images like this before, but having fun with it.

Finding my way

In life, there are challenges to face and obstacles to overcome.....but if we keep moving forward despite the opposition, there is a light at the end of the tunnel......and eventually we find our way!

Irving Penn R.I.P

Y'all may not know that legendary photographer Irving Penn died this month. He was one of the most influential fashion and portrait photographers of the 20th century. He photographed celebrities, artists, hippies, native peoples all in a simple studio environment. He believed that photographing his subject in the studio rather than in there natural environment helped the subject's true character emerge in the images. Take some time to familiarize yourself with his work.

Morning Sunrise

This old tractor was sitting on the side of the road early one morning. It had dew all over it and looked as though it was cold and lonely. I pulled over to take a few shots and noticed the sun rising above the trees behind it as if it were trying to warm the old tractor after a cold night. The rays that the sun gave were absolutely beautiful as they separated through the tree branches.

I pass by this building everyday on my way to and from work. It's a very beautiful building and I find it most beautiful right before a storm. The day that I took this there was a storm rolling in and there were two moods in the sky: Dark and stormy in the background and pretty blue providing the reflection in the front.

Week 2 Posting

Portraits of my friend Landen, the reference photo of how the light was being reflected is below. It gave an interesting effect becaue the reflected light was very warm and the lighting in the background was very cool as it was 40 degrees outside. Also I tried to keep the over exposed style but brought it down far enough so the skin tones weren't completely white.
