Lookout Mountain
I guess I'm on a little silhouette kick today because this is the next photo I wanted to post. One night at like 3 in the morning we all decided to drive to Chattanooga and watch the sunrise from Lookout Mountain. So all fifteen of us packed into two cars and drove north. It was freezing and there was still snow on the ground, but it was absolutely beautiful.

beach sunset.
This past summer a bunch of friends and I went to the beach for my friend Josh's 21st birthday and for some reason he decided to wear a scarf to the beach. As the sun was going down it cast an amazing light onto the beach and Josh became silhouetted and his scarf, that he was for some reason wearing, had this awesome glow to it so of course I snapped a picture.
One Hallows Eve (Muhahaha)
Northern Lights

So, I was just looking around at different sites on the web and came across this picture by Rolf Hicker. I think the northern lights are SO cool and they are something I really want to see in person! The colors are just awesome and look unreal. They create neon looking light that is really interesting.
Sun and Sand
Transparent and semi-transparent on white
Here are a few photos I made the other day of an octopus purchased at Your Dekalb Farmers Market. It's right around the corner from my studio and it's a great resource for fresh and interesting food fare. Check it out sometime on your way to class.

| The white background helps bring out the color and detail of the semi-transparent octopus |

| I like how the blue plate added some color and a contrast to the warm tones of the octopus. |

Sparkle Shoes
Hey!
Reflection on a glass door

Since we are going to be learning about lighting transparent objects soon, I thought I would take a picture of the reflection you get when the light has not been polarized? Where you can't see all the way through a part of a transparent doorway because it is reflecting back what is right in front of it. I was trying to look through this glass doorway and saw the reflection of my nephew and my mom while also, I was able to see through the door the waiter we were waiting on who was talking to the hostess on the other side. The back of my nephew's head and my mother with her sunglasses and I were sitting at a table just in front and there images were being reflected back almost like a mirror.

Smoke House
I took this picture of an old smoke house this past weekend. The sun was so bright just about an hour before sunset. I liked how the light was washing out the tin roof and the log side facing the sun as well as the way the light was falling off the other side to create hard shadows on the ground and around the logs of the face of the house. There was something about the contrast of textures that attracted me towards taking this picture.

Light Poking through My Window Slits
I thought I would share this image for how light inspires me. I was looking at the light coming through my window on a late afternoon and I loved the way it was hitting my bed! There are tiny slits of this metallic material outside of my window. I love when light makes tiny pattern of hard light. It was making tiny dots of light all over. I would love to use this idea in a project. I love repetition in art and in photographs. I would love to use the repetition of certain shaped light! :)

Photography by Elena Kalis
Elena Kalis is an underwater photographer located in the Bahamas. He images are sooooo magical. I wish I lived in such a nice, tropical place that I could do this. All her models start to look like mermaids. Like the water is there first home rather than the earth above.
Her Alice in Waterland interruption was incredibly executed. You could really identify with the story and see her vision.
Under...

I stumbled across his stuff on one of favourite photography blogs. I believe Francois does a lot of underwater, photojournalistic type of word. He works with an underwater camera to compose all his shots which i think is awesome. Rather than using a trigger from above the water he's in the pool with his subjects.
