Frank's Hot Sauce

Yesterday I had to shoot an upper quarter team's concept on Frank's Hot Sauce. Tim helped me via email (thank you!) on the type of setup I'd need. They gave me a picture of the concept they were after and I was able to get an idea of the lighting from it. I aimed a strobe with a grid (at 200w) straight down on top of the table for the interrogation type of effect. I'm not sure what's going on with the preview of these photos though because they're coming out a little funky... almost a little greenish and there's definitely more fill on the faces & chair when I pull them up apart from the internet...weird.

ski lift

I took this while ridding the ski lift up the mountain. These were my uncles skies. I rigged my camera up in a big ziplock bag so i could snowboard with it. While ridding the lift i noticed the light coming through the trees onto his skies. I thought it looked cool.

Room in a Vase

It's like a ship in a bottle, except interactive.

This was a cool house that was built in the 20's and this room had a ton of windows in it that light up.

Club Pringles

yeah, I got bored and couldn't waste valuable rented time with PPR's fisheye lens. If you can't tell what is going on...its a pringles can fit over the fisheye lens. Poked holes, 30 second exposure. 1st one has some added cigarette smoke.

Without a shadow of a doubt...

I caught some more shadows around 5:45-6:00pm. The light was being diffused through trees, then a screen, then a window. My ISO was at 800.

Baby on bench

This image might be too small... but I am having trouble uploading images.

I love this natural lighting.. I took it around 10 am...

Branch lighting

I like being home because it means I can be back with the trees and dogs. I got home around 3pm, so these pictures were taken around 3:45 or 4 in the afternoon. I will always love the shadows of trees.

Private Selection

A friend of mine had a beautiful idea: shots of her youth. I complied, and we had a wonderful time. The room was only big enough for two heads, one with a soffbox and one with a silver bounce back umbrella, a standing reflector, the rest of the equipment, the model, a small set of pillows-sheets-and-blankets, a stylist and myself. The room got pretty hot. Since I am forbidden show any of the images to anyone ever, but can use select ones for classroom purposes as long as that purpose doesn't involve the internet.... well, here's all I can post. But it gives some idea at least, you'll have to use your imagination for the rest.

From the Beach

Hey ya'll, here is a link to some photos I took while in Florida this last weekend. Mostly typical beach photos but I couldn't help myself. Don't believe the old adage about not shooting into the sun. I actually prefer if for creating drama in the scene. Also, notice how I shot at a very wide aperture and very high speed on the close-up images of the tide. Things get very crisp when shot at over 1/1000 of a second and by metering off the direct reflection of the sun I was able to bring the extra ambient light down creating an interesting effect. This keeps the shadows crisp but makes the light look softer rather than your usual harsh beach light.

I thought this made for a cool series. I tried to get Sarah to hope down and bounce some light on his left side but she wouldn't do it.

Chloe

I went back home this weekend and visited with the parents and the dogs. As I was packing my things up this morning, I couldn't help but notice the light that was streaming in the through the windows by our front door. The light was coming through and casting these really great shadows from the stairwell. As you can see, my dog, Chloe, was excited that I was on the floor, and I think that she adds a little something cool to the picture.

Got to love the sunset shots. This was taken as my friend and I were leaving Arabia Mtn.....never to return again....at least for another REI reshoot anyway.

Blue Sky

The sky this late morning made me really happy. The clouds were looking quite nice and I liked how the many jet/plane streams were mixing together.

HDR with a little extra photoshop action

I took this shot last summer I think. 7 shots. 2/3rd stop increments. It took forever to do and the scene isn't even that cool....so I edited in a fire. wierd, I know.
