Students of Light

Thursday, January 15, 2009

I took this first image two days ago. I love the lighting. I love the way the pink contrasts with the blue sky. I know half of her face is in a shadow so I wonder what everyone thinks about it. I took it at around 11am. The other two images I took during lunch today at the Westin, I noticed how cool the lighting looked through the window.

What you need to know...

So, consider this blog the online journal of your study of light. By posting your images and observations here you will help yourself and your classmates become better students of light and photographic lighting. Look for light that creates an interesting or beautiful moment inside, outside, morning, noon or night. Photograph the light that speaks to you.

When describing the light in your images use the basic terms we discussed in class, color, contrast, and brightness. Be sure to note the environmental factors like direction, diffusion, etc. Talk about the overall feeling the light gives the image. Feel free to post whatever inspires you in addition to the images you make yourself. I will continue to add links and post myself as well. This is meant to be a creative outlet for you so have fun with it. -tmox
