This was taken last night in the studio. Softbox on right double diffused with a flag behind it to block light from hitting the white wall. Which is causing the wall to be that middle grey. Fill card on left at an angle for the top of his head. He was about 10 ft off the syc wall.

I think that the first shot would be more pleasing for me if the reflection in his sunglasses were not towards the center of his nose. I find it a little distracting from everything else that's going on in the photo because it's a good shot.
I agree, a octabank would have given a better reflection but otherwise the light is nice. Be conscious of your subject's movement and adjust your light accordingly. The shadow on dude's eye on the second shot could have been reduced or eliminated by raising the light a little bit. The shots are good but they need refinement.
